Dear follower

We've decided here at the editorial office to make a Christmas calendar for you on our blog.
Each day we will bring you a new post. It might be a little story, an idea, a recipe or a peek into our daily life here at JDL. We hope you'll read along starting this Sunday... /Vivian

Back to Basics

This week one of our new collections of home textiles arrived.
It doesn’t get much more authentic than this. The products are made from thick, coarsely-woven yet soft, natural-colored cotton. With stripes all over, they bring to mind old, French flour sacks.

As part of this collection, we made a wonderful mattress to fit a daybed – something we always seem to be missing.

We’ve been so lucky to get our hands on a supply of old lace. It’s just so incredibly pretty to leave out for decoration or to use for all of your Christmas decorations and gift-wrapping.

The Christmas spirit has arrived at JDL

I’ve been having a hard time finding the Christmas spirit this year – perhaps because the weather has been and remains quite mild? But now it was time. Our international partners are coming to visit to take part in our annual Christmas party next weekend so we’d better make sure the surroundings offer a bit of true, Danish Christmas atmosphere.

La Petite Maria -

We started the weekend by shopping for lovely greens, Christmas decorations and just a few French flea market finds. That was the perfect shot in the arm to inspire us to dive into putting up decorations. Christmas spirit of the highest grade was evident everywhere. Then on Sunday we headed out to cut down a couple of nice, big Christmas trees – one for the courtyard just outside our windows and one for our pavilion.

Good things come to those who wait…

So the old saying goes. And we have to say that it’s completely true! We’ve waited a long time for our new porcelain collection but it’s definitely been worth the almost 2-year wait. It turned out just the way we wanted it. Not only does it include the finest reproductions of carefully selected old porcelain – it even has the perfect creamy-white color, which looks just like the original. We’re just so thrilled and proud to have finally succeeded. You can mix it with old porcelain thus creating the perfect service for any home with a love of the French-Nordic country style. And the fact that price and quality are both good is just an added bonus. There’s no doubt that our cabinets will be stocked before long.

We’re especially proud of the tureen, which we also made in a miniature version. It makes a perfect gravy dish or individual serving of soup, etc. Likewise, the matching porcelain ladle is nothing short of irresistible. /Vivian

The salt and pepper set is another favorite.

A Christmas Inspiration Trip

Once again, some of the girls from JDL made a trip to go look at this and that. This time they stopped by Kri-Stense in the town of Aars. The store was beautifully decorated with many wonderful Christmas items.
Each year, Kri-Stense offers extended opening hours for a few weekends with great turnout. The store as well as her private home were beautifully decorated.

While taking in the lovely smell of gløgg and Christmas cookies, we found plenty of good ideas and inspiration for Christmas 2013. Definitely worth a visit!
